Fantastic Beasts
In this project, since there were limitation on the key visual and design element of the package, i decided to focus on the print itself.
Silver metallic card, worked the same way as the Maul pack but toward a different end. White ink lays down only where the colour has to hold true. Everywhere it is left out, yellow prints straight onto the silver — and process ink is transparent, so the metal comes up through it and reads as gold. No gold foil, no gold ink. The gold is made in the separation. Spot gloss UV over the treated areas, so light catches them and moves across the surface as the box turns. Gloss on a metallic ground reads closer to jewellery than to packaging, which is where the film sits. Against a layout that could not be changed, the surface did the work the graphics were not free to do.
